Ductless systems connect an outdoor unit with an indoor unit to heat or cool one specific zone of a home without the use of ductwork.
Installing a ductless system is not only easy, but it allows for flexibility in where you deliver heating and cooling in your home without the use of ductwork. An outdoor unit is placed outside your home--often at ground level, but not always--and is connected to an indoor unit by small cables and a refrigerant line through a hole in the wall. The indoor unit is typically mounted high on the wall of the room and can be pre-set to run automatically or be adjusted by a remote control.
The mini-split ductless system controls one room or zone by connecting one outdoor unit to one indoor unit. A multi-split ductless system can connect one outdoor unit to up to five indoor units—depending on the indoor and outdoor model—letting you control the heating and cooling in several zones or rooms independently of each other.
A ductless system is a great solution for homes without a central heating/cooling system or when a room is added onto a house or an attic is converted to living space. Instead of extending the home's existing ductwork, a ductless system can provide efficient heating and cooling at a lower operational cost.
One of the most popular features of a ductless system is the ability to zone your home in multiple areas. This allows you to control the individual temperature of each room. With a ductless system, you won't have to worry about heating and cooling rooms that you rarely use.
Continuously working to keep your home at a consistent temperature with reduced humidity, these systems adjust their own speed depending on how much cooler or warmer your home needs to be. And because they're working to keep your home at a constant temperature, they're not "kicking on" and changing the temperature multiple degrees... giving you both a quieter and more efficient system.
Besides receiving a SEER rating, a product may have been certified high-efficiency by ENERGY STAR. Upgrading your system with products earning the ENERGY STAR label can help save energy without sacrificing features or functionality.
Clean air shouldn't be a luxury. Whole home air filtration systems work internally to reduce dust, mold, and other particles in the air being treated.
Control the comfort of your home even while you're away with a smart home automation system. Connect via smartphone to change the temperature of your home, turn the lights on or off, and even lock or unlock your front door. Perfect for families with pets, children who let themselves in from school, and those who travel frequently.
Is one part of your home shaded while the other part gets plenty of sunlight? Are there some parts of your house you rarely use? Unlike conventional systems that can only heat or cool the entire house at once, a zoning system directs heated and cooled air on a zone-by-zone basis.
Looking to add comfort to a small room that's always a little too hot or cold? Or do you have a recent addition that's not connected to your central system? Built for superior comfort, combination ductless heating and cooling systems come in a variety of mounts.
